The Harold Robinson Foundation has given me the opportunity to give back to the Los Angeles community in an active and engaging way. As someone who grew up going to summer camp, I know first-hand how much camp can change kids’ lives. Being a counselor and mentor for underprivileged youth—playing sports with them and teaching them community values—has affected me just as much as it has affected them. I cherish the opportunity to help lead the inner-city youth in the right direction by running around, singing and dancing, and just being a kid.

I came into Camp Ubuntu thinking that I was going to change these kids lives, but looking back, they’ve impacted my life perhaps even more than I did to them. Camp Ubuntu will forever be apart of me, and I truly believe it is the real happiest place on earth.

HRF gives kids from all over Los Angeles, whether it’s Youth Advisory Board members, Leaders in training, or the campers and parents themselves, a chance to experience the inexplicable adventure of camp together.
